Brian Greenspan

Brian H. Greenspan, (born March 14, 1947 in Niagara Falls, Ontario) is a Canadian lawyer. He is one of the most famous and well-regarded defence lawyers in Canada, owing to several high-profile clients and to his record in both trial and appellate law.

A graduate of the University of Toronto (1968), Osgoode Hall Law School at York University (1971) and the London School of Economics (1972), Greenspan is the senior partner of the Toronto law firm of Greenspan, Humphrey, Lavine. He is the past-president of the Criminal Lawyer's Association (Ontario), was the founding chair of the Canadian Council of Criminal Defence Lawyers, and is a director of the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted. He is the winner of the 2010 G. Arthur Martin Criminal Justice Medal and the 2002 Douglas K. Laidlaw Medal for excellence in oral advocacy.[1]

He is the brother of Edward Greenspan, also a well-known Canadian lawyer.
